An island with several rhythms
A place can be busy in August and quiet in February. Anyone moving to Mallorca for good needs more than a beautiful holiday setting. A home has to work on an ordinary Tuesday: shopping, work, healthcare, school and friendships. Choosing between Palma, a coastal town and an inland municipality means choosing different ways of life.
Housing is a shared concern
The Balearic government describes access to affordable housing as one of residents’ main concerns. Its housing plan, as reported in August 2026, combines several measures and thousands of homes at different planning stages. A planned or under-construction home is not a home already available. Anyone settling on the island should respect the local housing situation and avoid treating a single luxury listing as representative of the entire market.
Choose for twelve months
Where possible, view outside peak season too. Ask how heating, ventilation and internet work in winter and which services remain open throughout the year. A mountain view can be wonderful; for many people it is the routes and relationships of daily life that decide whether a place feels like home. A good location works in November as well as in summer.
